Avoid this company. They will happily cancel your booking with no clear reason and refuse to offer any decent apology, assistance or discount. Terrible customer service, robot type advisors on the phone who just repeat the same sentences and refuse to let you speak to management. Awful.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR SYKES COTTAGES. These companies left us for 6 out of the 7 days of our Christmas week holiday without heating and hot water! Horrendous customer care during the holiday, abysmally lacking in any form of professionalism, no apology given, no contact from any member of staff above a customer services assistant. It is shocking that they are allowed to walk away from their customer complaints shirking any kind of responsibility for their complete lack of customer care. If you experience any problems they are incapable of liaising within their own company, let alone sort our your problem! Their stock answer to dealing with your complaint is to give you the owners details and recommend taking legal action against them, even if the problem does not stem from the owner, but is due to NCCC and Sykes' woefully bad procedures in dealing with Property Management. Do owners who place their beautiful properties with them have any idea how guests in their properties are treated if they have an issue? Again, I say DO NOT RENT A HOLIDAY HOME FROM THIS COMPANY OR SYKES COTTAGES who recently acquired this 'local' company for their expertise, what expertise? Put them together and they are money grabbing numpties, stay away from them as you may end up having the holiday from hell!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Northumberland cottages / Sykes ownership have cancelled our summer holiday with no reasonable explanation. Refused to even discuss or provide any compensation or compromise. Staff act as if it’s a haircut appointment that’s cancelled not a family holiday. Point blank refuse to let us speak to a manager.

On arrival thought the accommodation was excellent but noticed tap dripping constantly in kitchen. Then washing machine would not open and had to wait a week after our return to receive the wet washing. Communication diabolical as supposedly short staffed and answer machine either broken or they do not want to use it as want to talk to customers. Fat chance had to wait an hour to get through on one day. Owner of property appeared to not want to spend money and could not be contacted promptly. No customer service as had to keep ringing them for an update which was not available. Also had to visit both offices to find out what was happening. Will not use this company again. Would not give one star but could not post without.

Very much let down by this company and the home owners for whom they act as agents. we have rented from them many time before, and for this summer had booked a house in Bernica Way, Beadnell. The booking was made 11 months ago and paid in full, on time. We were contacted 3-weeks before we were due to go on holiday to say the owners had withdrawn the property for personal reasons. No realistic alternative was offered by NCCC - one star for refunding the money without having to involve the credit card company, but it has left our holiday plans somewhat in tatters and confidence in the company broken.
The rental agreement is a very one-sided contract - if we had pulled out at such short notice there would be a penalty to pay - but it seems the owners can pull the plug when they want.

Having stayed at Beachcomber apartment 2b Bamburgh last week.
There was no toilet paper, no soap, tired looking apartment, cobwebs, things looking shabby. Also the taps put out extremely hot (steaming) water with no warning so had to be very careful with the children using taps (there was no warning sign)
We emailed twice to this company and a week later, still recieved no reply.

Have booked many holidays with Northumbria C & C. Always found them very helpful and efficient. Their properties are decorated and equipped to a high standard and cover all areas
It is worth remembering that they are only agents for the owners. Your contract is with the owner should you need cancel, not that I have ever had an issue

The office staff were nice & helpful.
I found a lostt phone in the beautiful beautiful and again beautiful house ( Estuary View, Lovaine Terrace, Alnmouth ) I stayed in which was through the company and they managed to reunite with its owner - well done?

We stayed at Sea Salt Cottage again in late August this year and were impressed with the new precautions taken against Covid-19. The cottage was immaculately cleaned, all books, DVDs and soft furnishings removed and even all remote controls were enclosed in plastic pouches. This made for a stress-free and even more enjoyable stay. Thank you. We have just booked again!

The staff in both offices are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, very polite and customer orientated. Our experiences are normally very positive. This trip however we found the cottage slightly grubby and it did spoil our overall experience. Not sure how they can effectively guarantee cleanliness without perhaps doing spot checks?
